Course – Climate Science Solutions for Cumbria

“To help further the aims of the Zero Carbon Cumbria Partnership, a short course on the latest climate science and solutions for Cumbria is being offered online on November 17th from 1pm – 3pm.

Cumbria Action for Sustainability’s (CAfS) expert trainers will lead an interactive session covering the causes of climate change, its impacts and what we can do about it, as individuals and as organisations.

Attendees will leave the session with a renewed understanding of the actions needed and will be able to speak confidently about climate change and the actions needed to mitigate it.

The session costs £29.00 for individuals and £49 for organisations, but CAfS are offering a customisable pricing option where the attendee chooses how much they are able to afford to pay. This is to ensure that nobody is priced out of becoming a part of the solution to the climate crisis. Please help us spread the word and fill the last places on the session so we can maximise the ability of Cumbrians to discuss and act on the climate emergency at a time when every person counts.

You can book onto the course and share the link with your network here.

Children, Outdoor Play and the Environment

We would like to help children acquire a knowledge of ecological principles.

Several activities will be developed to:

  • stimulate their interest for maintaining a balanced environment
  • promote public awareness
  • designate green spaces for relaxation, exercise and  play
  • develop their desire to protect the environment and to solve problems
  • help children practice habits and learn practical skills  regarding renewable and recyclable material

With our long-term partners at Stomping Ground we have created work sheets to help children learn and interact with the environment which we have promoted on our Penrith in Bloom Facebook page and told our story for our colleagues at Cumbria in Bloom.
